A priest, a painter
I am a Catholic priest. I love to paint, sculpt, sing, cook, travel, hang out with friends, play games both physical and virtual and more.
I was studying in Rome when pandemic hit. Lockdowns pushed me to create this website to share my spiritual reflections, to inspire and to encourage others through brush strokes and colors hence, "priestbrush." Truly, we can make the best out of a difficult circumstance like pandemic. I am sure you have yours to share, too.
-----
I personally thank my collaborators Father Kevin, Tito Robert, Tita Helen and her two grandsons Luke and Gabe (our young artists) who selflessly shared their time, treasure and talents not only for the success of this event but also for making my dream come true, that is, to be part of an art exhibition.
-----
WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND OUR DEEPEST GRATITUDE TO ALL WHO APPRECIATED OUR WORKS ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO PURCHASED THEM.
May God who is never outdone His generosity bless you all.

Total Sales of $3,870 (100%) goes to charity as mentioned above.

The Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from 8 December 2020 to 8 December 2021. Let us encourage one another to pray to the Patron of the Universal Church, St. Joseph:
"Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen."

Humbled
5"x7" oil on canvas
Painted the day before Ash Wednesday 2020. This is my favorite piece not only because our Lord is the subject but also because I let the brush do the job without much control of my hand. It pleased me that it conveys such emotion that I wanted to emphasize which is the humbling experience of our Lord.
Verbum Tuum
(11"x14" acrylic on canvas)
This piece was inspired by a priest friend who has a youtube channel. I was inspired by one of his segments called the Word Explained. In this artwork which was originally an sculpture (see credits below), it features the young Jesus who is seemingly explaining to Mary 'the word'. It's not surprising, is it?
(Credits attributed to Claus de Werve, sculptor and www.magnificat.com/cover for the photo)

Hele ni Inay
(Mother's Lullaby)
(8"x10" acrylic on canvas)
Painted on 911 Memorial Day. We remember all the victims and we ask our Mother to keep us under the mantle of Her protection.
(Owner: Barcenas Family, NJ)

(untitled)
(11"x14" acrylic on canvas)
Christmas is just around the corner. This year's celebration is quite different from the past but may we not forget to spread the joy and peace that our Lord Jesus truly brings. He is the Emmanuel in the midst of uncertainty and seemingly deeming hope.

His pain,
Her sorrow
On the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
(5"x7" acrylic on canvas)
This painting has two images of our Lord on the right side and our Mother on the left. At first, I did not intend to paint Jesus' face but when I did the darker part of our Lady I could not help but see His face, too. Thus, the title really captures what it tries to deliver, His pain was her sorrow. Finally, the painting is not all about pain and sorrow but also of trust in God's loving plan as their eyes gazing heavenward.

The Gaze
(9"x12" ink and acrylic on canvas)
This piece took almost six months to finish. The ink part took that long but the acrylic part took less than five minutes to make but I am pleased with the outcome.

Commixtio
(8"x10" acrylic on canvas)
The Latin term for 'mingling' is commixtio. It is when a small piece of Host is mingled with the precious Blood of Christ. And the silent prayer of the priest goes: "May the mingling and consecration of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ be to us who receive it effectual to the life everlasting. Amen."

Tireless
(8"x10" mixed media on canvas)
The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I shall want..."
(Owner: Rev. Alberto, Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan)
A ray of hope
(9"x12" acrylic on canvas)
There is always a ray of hope for every repentant sinner. There's always a ray of hope for all of us despite a very challenging year we have and the years ahead of us. Let us not lose hope just as our Psalm reminds us today: “Remember your mercies, O Lord.”
(Owner: Rev. Joe Kelly, Rome)

Overjoyed
(70x55cm, acrylic on canvas)
(Owner: Rev. Ted Kalaw, CRM, Superior General)
Phd holder
(11"x14" mixed media on canvas)
Do you want to earn a phd?
No, this is not an online course!
It’s free but involves a lot of practice.
It’s called Padre Pio’s PHD as he would always say:
“Pray, Hope, and Don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.“

Lorenzo
(11"x14" mixed media on canvas)
I remember when I was about seven or eight my grandmother would bring me to 'kawan' (Basic Ecclesial Communities) for nine straight evening Masses in honor of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz who was just canonized a year ago that time. I guess that's one of the major events in my life that deeply influenced my vocation to priesthood, no doubt about it.

Il Vicolo (del Monticello)
The Alley of Monticello
- 22x33 in, acrylic on canvas
At the end of this narrow dark path in our lives and the seemingly endless challenges we face, we find the light of a new day, a new strength to face what life brings, a new hope that our Lord gives…
This piece is dedicated to my ‘kababayans’ in the Philippines especially those who were greatly affected by the parade of typhoons in the past weeks.
(Owner: Rev. James Conn, SJ, Rome)

Humilitas
Our Lady of Humility
(17cm x 42cm, clay)
I sculpted this image 2 years ago. It is enthroned on the terrace facing the Biblicum and Basilica dei Santi XII Apostoli.
